Simplified App creation with Medo
I entered another Hackathon this week, a challenge to build an app using a new natural language AI development tool MeDo. If you haven’t heard of this tool already (and don’t worry, neither had I), you should keep an eye on it as this is probably the fastest build I’ve completed to date.
The task was simple, build an app using natural language for 1 of 4 categories.
- Work and Productivity
- Business and E-Commerce
- Lifestyle and Games
- Learning and Education
I landed on a pay-per-use text/image-to-video app powered by Gemini, Kling Omni and Stripe to create one-off custom advertisements for small businesses. Why pay-per-use though? You do see some providers offer credit purchases here and there but there’s always this expectation that if you don’t know how to prompt properly, you’ll learn. Is it fair though to think that a small plumbing business or apple orchard needs to have this skillset? Or would it be easier to just give them a tool to do it all for them?
That’s where CAGE comes in. A simplified video generator designed for those who have no idea what they’re doing, but need a high quality video customized to their specific needs. With just a small prompt, a call to action and a few other simple inputs (resolution, style, tone, reference image if relevant), you can pay for a professionally produced AI Video.
Now using natural language as a development input is challenging as the ability for the AI to make mistakes is high if not managed well. So I did what 99.9% of vibe coders do.. I gave it to Claude. This obviously helped immensely as the prompt quality for Medo was of an exceptionally high standard without needing to prefix with “Make no mistakes”. And after 25 iterations, which is a total nothing burger in Development timelines, I had a fully functional app that collected inputs, vetted them against Kling’s acceptance criteria, took a payment using stripe, created a fully scoped shot-by-shot prompt for Kling Omni, and generated an output to download.
Overall I was pretty stoked with the whole process, it was pretty easy considering how tedious app development can be. The fact I could chain multiple plug-ins natively accelerated development in a big way.
Will I use MeDo again?
Yes! Absolutely! I’m already working on my second entry LOL! It was so easy to get this out I’m 3 weeks ahead of schedule which gives me enough time to try building a multiplayer game. #BuiltWithMeDo

Is it Right to use AI?
Yes!
You can make the argument that AI will end the world, that it wastes natural resources and that it further drives the gap between the have’s and have not’s. But I’d like to just draw you back 26 years to the turn of the millennium.
During the late 90’s, the world saw an explosion in hype about the future of being online and equated it to certain death if a business didn’t have a website or some kind of email functionality. Billions were invested and by early 2000 the market peaked and imploded dramatically. Money was lost, the big players who over extended themselves died and the market picked up the pieces. Nowadays I couldn’t imagine a life without the internet. My kids just accept that it exists, no questions. Remember VHS? 3.5 inch or even 8 inch floppies? All gone, just a millennial memory that will only be remembered in Wikipedia.
Now fast forward to 2008. While wasting my life on somethingawful.com, RIP Lowtax, there were rumors about blockchain being used for what we know today as FINTech. Online banking that would render modern banking obsolete. Then around mid-2009 Satori released what is probably the most well known form of currency in the world today – Bitcoin. Cue the laughter from all those terminally online. Hell even I had 20 at one point, I traded them for a 6-pack and a supreme pizza. Do I regret that? I guess, but I would’ve lost them anyway due to constantly changing hardware over the years, and all my old Seagate HDD’s are long gone so whatever.
And now today we have another explosion in businesses desperately attempting to convince users to accept that their LLM wrapped CRM is soooo much better than their competitors. Really though they’re all the same. I’m yet to meet an Agentic AI that didn’t do anything different than its competitors. And when the bubble pops yet again and we’re thrust into another “once-in-a-lifetime” event, there will be those that know how to use AI, and those that don’t. And like the copy shop that’s dying a slow death on a mostly boarded up strip mall, those that did use AI properly will go onto great things.
So it doesn’t really matter if you, your neighbor, your coworker or boss use AI. The fact is that it’s here and it will continue to be here probably long after we as humanity cook ourselves in an increasingly hotter world. We, for the most part, just have to go with the flow and accept the status quo. Now you can totally say no, buy a block of land in the country and start a homestead.
Just a note – I would absolutely LOVE to do that.
But the reality is we need to be there for our family, friends and community. And sometimes that just means figuring out how to stay ahead and ride the wave. Yes it’ll crash on the beach and our lives will again be in ruin, but somehow, we’re just gonna keep on going and doing what we can to survive. So find whatever it is that makes you happy, hyperfocus in on that, and just try to live your life the best you can.
